Our Roots

ACFOR is a leading force
in restorative forestry.

ACFOR is a leader in full-service forest management. With a focus on selective, stand improving, and forest restoration practices, our expertise lies in managing forests while valuing their ecological function. Our prioritization of the forest ecosystem provides long-term benefits for economic, conservation, and social values.

Land Acknowledgement

We at ACFOR acknowledge that the work we carry out takes place on the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqey, and Peskotomuhkati people.

We wish to express our gratitude to the elders, past and present, and to the descendants of this land who have been its stewards for millennia. It is important to understand the history that has brought us here, and to seek to understand our place in reconciliation with Indigenous people and with the land. As forest managers, we are committed to practicing with an ecosystem-approach to restore Wabanaki forest diversity and resilience while meeting the economic and spiritual needs of our communities. We do this primarily by taking time to understand the ecosystem, learn what it needs, and thoroughly plan and implement treatments that re-establish its ecological integrity. In doing this, we make use of forest products that society currently considers waste to provide renewable, net-zero energy to communities, decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels.

A Different Kind of Forest Management

Our unique structure means our dedicated planning department is separate from any sawmill affiliation. We firmly believe that sawmills, driven by conflicting interests and a preference for cheap wood, may not prioritize the ecological well-being of the land. ACFOR Forestry negotiates wood sales on behalf of landowners but also manages forests with a steadfast commitment to what is best for the land.

Our comprehensive range of services includes analysis, forest measurement, planning, forest product marketing, general consulting, and restoration implementation.

Unlike most planning organizations, we have integrated operations and sales, making us highly efficient and providing us with unique insights that planning-only groups may lack.

Trust ACFOR Forestry to safeguard your woodland assets while preserving the ecological integrity of your land.
